J-Dag 2026 – The christmas beer has arrived

The snow is falling at Denmark House, and one of our favourite Danish Christmas traditions is back.

J-Dag, short for Julebrygsdag, marks the arrival of the Danish Christmas beer and, for many Danes, the unofficial beginning of the festive season.

Once again, Denmark House will be bringing a little Danish winter magic to Melbourne and we can now confirm that the Christmas beers have arrived and will be flowing on the night!

J-Dag has been celebrated in Denmark since 1990, when friends gather to welcome the season with Christmas beer, music, good company and plenty of hygge. Here at Denmark House, it has become a much-loved annual tradition of our own and one of the first signs that Christmas is just around the corner.

Expect a festive Aquavit Bar, cold Christmas beer, good food and plenty of Danish Christmas spirit as we raise a glass together and officially kick off the festive season.

Food & Drinks

Our bar menu will be available from 4:00pm in case you want a hotdog alongside your Christmas beers.

Christmas beer will, of course, be the star of the evening, alongside our usual selection of beer, wine, cocktails, akvavit and non-alcoholic drinks.

There is no ticket required to join us for J-Dag. Simply come along, grab a Christmas beer and celebrate with us.

If you would like to dine, we strongly recommend reserving a table in advance, as J-Dag is traditionally a very busy evening at Denmark House.
